Creativity is not a fixed trait - it can manifest in every kind of mind and moment. Inspiration is revealed in times of clarity and anxiety, newness and mundanity. Bursts of imagination can be fleeting. In painting, drawing, and many other arts, the hand is trained to play a crucial role, taking record of these passing visions.
This series celebrates the powerful combination of imagination and depiction. The paintings are energized, gestural, and drawing-based. Their compositions are delineated with distinctive red lines that cut through and sink back into hazy environments. Their subjects waver between sentience and abstraction. Couches sympathize, sun rays sketch, pianos sigh, and screens scowl. Like a bright idea, their forms are on the verge of dissolving quickly back into nebulous shades and shapes.
The works range in subject and mood, though they are connected by their characteristic color, wiggling line, and amusing expression. The parts form the whole - an enthusiastic outpouring, rhapsodic in nature.
